Rewriting your authentic life

Write in the present tense (I have… I am…). Use a stream of consciousness style—don’t worry about spelling mistakes or getting everything perfect. This exercise is about letting it all out without judgment.

We’re all born into a life plan, often shaped by family expectations, cultural norms, and societal standards. This programming is normal and even comforting at times. It guides us through familiar paths. But sometimes, we wake up and realize we’re living a life based on what we think we should be doing, rather than what we truly desire from the most authentic place in our hearts.

This prompt invites you to explore both versions of your life—the one that was planned for you and the one that’s awaiting you when you connect with your truest self.

Journal Prompt

“In the life that was planned for me, I am…”

“In the life that’s awaiting me, I am…”

Add as many details as possible to both lives. How do you feel in each life? Who surrounds you? What does your home look like? Your career? Your passions? The people who bring color to each day from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep?

Which life excites you the most?
